Litigation

The Firm's trial attorneys handle a wide range of litigation in both state and federal courts throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. This Department also represents clients in regulatory, administrative and arbitration proceedings. The Department's practice includes appellate work.

The Litigation Department maintains a large insurance defense practice on behalf of both insurance companies and insureds. Concentration in this area includes property insurance, coverage disputes, and arson and fraud investigation. This Department also handles defenses of personal injury and death actions.

The Litigation Department additionally concentrates in fidelity, surety, and construction claims disputes. The Department also focuses on professional liability matters. Members of the Department have extensive experience in handling medical malpractice and corporate and commercial litigation.

Also within the Litigation Department is the firm's admiralty and maritime practice. Representation of clients includes a range of maritime litigation including Jones Act marine insurance, vessel arrests and attachments, cargo damage, personal injury to longshoremen and seamen, stowaway repatriation, cargo and property damage and subrogation claims as well as other maritime related commercial disputes. One of the firm's partners is an editor of the reporter American Maritime Cases.
