Niles Barton Attorney Honored Twice
Baltimore, MD – July 26, 2010 – Niles Barton is proud to announce that Tracy L. Steedman is privileged to serve the State of Maryland in two new capacities. Ms. Steedman has been elected a Fellow of the Maryland State Bar Foundation. This distinction is extended only after nomination by a current Fellow and endorsement by the Board of Directors of the Maryland Bar Foundation. The distinction is limited to not more than 2.5 percent of MSBA membership.
Ms. Steedman was also elected to serve on the Board of Directors for the Women’s Law Center of Maryland [WLC]. The WLC, a non-profit organization established in 1971, advocates for an equal playing field in the law for women and children. For more than a quarter of a century, the WLC has fought and won many battles to protect and preserve the rights of women--by educating the public and the judiciary on the effects of legal decisions affecting women, by monitoring compliance with the law, by seeking to change unjust laws and unjust lawmaking, and by implementing innovative programs to pave the way for systemic change.
Ms. Steedman is a LEED AP construction attorney practicing in the firm’s litigation department. She represents institutional owners, general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, design professionals, and municipalities in all areas of construction law and civil litigation, including complex commercial construction disputes. She has litigated cases at the trial and appellate levels in both state and federal courts. Ms. Steedman received her B.A. from Towson University and her J.D. from the University of Maryland School of Law.
